Ice-bright hangs in open air,
cold branches draw truth on the ground.
Light stills—snow fills a thousand worlds;
shadow washes the dust of the streets.
Between trees, a lamp, distant, warm.
The human night has not yet sunk.
What if, on a passing whim,
one went—just to ask the way?
